My research spans several interconnected areas, including Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), employee empowerment, marketing strategies in education, and workforce development. Throughout my career, I’ve explored innovative ways to bridge gaps between education and industry, with a strong focus on equity, access, and the recognition of diverse learning experiences.

My work on PLA examines how recognizing prior learning can enhance student success, improve completion rates, and positively impact the economic outcomes of graduates. In my recent bibliometric analysis of PLA, I investigated its evolving role in lifelong learning and policy development, aligning with my commitment to fostering equitable educational practices.

Earlier in my career, I focused on using business marketing strategies to enhance the effectiveness of educational programs. Through studies like Using Business Marketing Strategies in Higher Education: A Case Study and Marketing Strategies in a Vocational Program, I explored how principles of marketing can help vocational and higher education institutions reach and support diverse student populations. These studies remain highly relevant as education adapts to meet the demands of an increasingly dynamic global workforce.

I’ve also examined organizational and workforce dynamics in industries like hospitality. My research, including Moments of Truth and Employee Empowerment: A Dynamic Duo for Customer Services, and The Hotel Industry: A High Turnover Industry, highlights strategies to improve service delivery and workplace satisfaction.

In addition to my focus on research, I’m dedicated to helping others succeed in academic writing. My contribution to the essay, How to Make Time for Research and Writing, published in the Chronicle of Higher Education, reflects my passion for mentoring scholars and fostering productive writing habits.

Currently, my work centers on the economic impact of PLA on graduates, leveraging open databases to analyze trends and outcomes across the U.S. This ongoing research aims to inform policies and practices that empower diverse student populations while enhancing workforce readiness and access to education.
